LEADVILLE
THE MIXED LEGACY OF A BIRTHRIGHT
"PILGRIM",
screeches The Great Voice Of The Turtle, "The eagle is the only
one among my children who can soar towards the sun and look straight
into the light without being blinded. My eagle children are among
the few who can fly into the eye of the tornado and soar calmly and
effortlessly amidst all the turbulence. This is why my native children
honor the eagle as the mighty warrior of 'The Golden Light', a high
flying messenger of their thoughts sent to the The Great Creator Spirit.
This is why they place the eagle's feathers on clothing and ceremonial
things as a symbol of their spirit's search for some higher purpose
beyond the turbulence of everyday life. How have you felt my eagle
soar in your heart? What life experiences has it led you to seek out?
What part of my body do you call your birthright? In what good or
bad ways has this birthright touched your life? When the day comes
that your body begins to fall apart, where do you want the pieces
to rest upon me?" .
